Eterna ’79

This is a Fujifilm recipe for those who love the cinematic and the organic, where texture and light take the lead.

I built this for my Fujifilm X100VI, aiming to recreate the soft contrast, muted tones, and subtle grain of late 1970s cinema. I started with Eterna/Cinema as the base and tuned it until it felt tactile and imperfect, grainy, natural, and grounded, like film that’s lived a little. The name Eterna ’79 is a nod to the look of that era, when films like Kramer vs Kramer and Days of Heaven defined a more organic and realistic visual style that was full of texture and emotion. I wanted this recipe to capture that timeless cinematic feeling while still being versatile for everyday shooting.

This recipe was designed on an X-Trans V sensor and should translate well to other cameras using the same generation, such as the X-T5. As always, for older Fujifilm models, just dial in the closest settings and adjust tone and colour to taste, the magic lies in the texture and light.
